What accounting software do you recommend ?

We use both Sage and Xero but prefer Xero as it is more user friendly and offers more modules.

I have Sage software but I want to use Xero can I move my records to Xero?

Yes we can move all of your records to Xero.

Where can I get software training?

Here at Martin Accountancy Services we can provide training on both Xero and Sage to set you on your way.

I am going to work for myself how do I go about this?

Firstly register self-employed with HMRC and also register for class 2 NI. Keep records of all your income and expenditure. Sign up with an accountant to do your annual accounts and self assessment tax return.

Do I need to register for VAT?

It in mandatory to register for VAT when your turnover reaches £90,000 or you can register for VAT if you feel you have a lot of input VAT that you want to claim back against output VAT.

How do I register for VAT?

Either you can do it through your Government Gateway or we can do it for you.

Do you charge for every email or phone call?

No we do not charge to answer your queries. We like to help our clients with their queries without them worrying about the cost to contact us.
